Justin Roberts’ new cd Jungle Gym is sure to take over the country by storm, as he is off on his latest tour. Jungle Gym has definitely made a big impression at my house, and my kids are dancing around day and night.
When we first listened to Jungle Gym, my one-year-old baby boy began bouncing in his high chair as soon as his older brothers turned up the volume, and he immediately insisted on joining them at the make-believe dance floor. My oldest son instantly went to grab his guitar, and all three boys were soon showing off their latest dance moves.
Roberts’ seventh family cd Jungle Gym is a mixture of fast-paced tunes and slow songs that tell great stories. The new cd is quite the topic of conversation at my house, and my seven-year-old is quite eager for Mr. Roberts to go on a Florida tour. The other day at lunch my oldest son was talking about the very memorable song Sign My Cast, and the song Fire Drill from Roberts’ cd was playing in the background. All of a sudden, I spotted my four-year-old gazing out the window, as if he was in another world. It made me realize that it really takes a great musician to be able to touch our little ones’ souls in such a way, and I do not think any awards and accolade can be more proof of success than the facial expression of our children when they are able to connect with a song on such an intense level of emotion.
All the tracks on Jungle Gym are full of fabulous dance rhythms and great beats that are sure to make anyone want to get the groove on. Every time a new song started playing, I was sure that it would end up being my favorite, but then the next song began, and it turned out to be just as great. After having listened to the songs on Jungle Gym at least a dozen times, it still seems to make quite an impression on my children, and contrary to some kids’ cds, I still enjoy listening to it, despite having heard it at least six times a day.
While Jungle Gym is a kids’ music cd, it really does appeal to everyone in my family including me. I love the fast rhythms and beats of songs such as Sleepoverland and Trick or Treat, and the softness and intensity of Sign My Cast and Never Getting Lost simply blew me away. The sympathetic lyrics and compelling story lines are sure to bring any adult back to childhood.
The baby does not seem to have any favorite, but he does seem to favor the fast beat songs. My four-year-old loves Obsessed By Trucks (Watch it on You Tube), and my seven-year-old son is just impressed with all of the guitar playing and the story lines within the songs.
Jungle Gym by Justin Roberts deserves a spot at the Baby’s Best First Birthday Gifts collection, because I have never seen my baby bounce, dance and shake as much as he has since we received the cd. Roberts seems to understand that not everything in a child’s life is pure happiness, and he surely makes the listener empathize no matter what age.
Roberts is a Montessori Teacher/Rock Musician who has transformed himself into a mega super star in the children’s music world. He has performed on the Today Show, on Nick Jr., and even the critics at the New York Times have dedicated lots of print space to praise Roberts for his fantastic music.
