My sons and I recently had our very first yard sale, and it was a great opportunity to teach my kids a few lessons about money. To help me out a bit I used the Rock ‘N Learn Money & Making Change dvd, and my kids definitely thought Rock ‘N Learn was more interesting than I was.
About Rock ‘N Learn
The Rock ‘N Learn dvds are cool educational dvds that uses music to teach children in a way that actually makes them remember what they have learned.
Rock N’ Learn was founded in the mid 80s, by Richard and Brad Caudle, two brothers who put their professions of school psychologist and rock musician together to make a fun and entertaining way to teach children the basics and to keep learning fun and easy for everyone.
The result is a series of more than 50 fun learning products for kids from the preschool age and up.
Money & Making Change Review
The animated characters Penny and Bill helps children understand the basics of money, while teaching them how to make change and count money at the same time. They do so through music and memorization songs, and counting techniques such as The Coin Song, the Count The Coins Game and the “Do I Have Enough Money?” Game. My kids especially loved the games, and I love to see whenever they interact with the programs.
The one thing that really attracted me to the Rock ‘N Learn Money and Making Change dvd in the first place was the fact that it teaches skip counting. My eight-year-old son has had a bit difficulty with the skip counting concept at school, and while I have tried to explain skip counting in numerous ways, Rock ‘N Learn finally succeeded in doing so in a way that he understood it.
The dvd is recommended for kids ages 6 and up, but it had both my four-year-old and my eight-year-old sons paying close attention. In fact, I did not even have to encourage them to watch the dvd, because the second time they watched it, they put it in the dvd player all by themselves. The dvd is 35 minutes long, which is the perfect amount of time for this age group, and my kids actually watched the entire dvd without getting antsy.
My boys have had an increased interest in counting money after watching Rock ‘N Learn’s Money and Making Change dvd, and I am very impressed to see that my four-year-old son now knows his coins.

The Rock ‘N Learn dvds are great for any child, but they are especially helpful to children who are very visual learners. It keeps the child’s attention throughout the program by switching up methods, adding fun characters/instructors and connecting the different skills sets with great beats and memorable rhymes.
