Dec 042010

This afternoon I finally got to go to Publix for the weekly grocery shopping. It has been almost two weeks, since I last sat my foot in a grocery store, but luckily I stocked up big time back then. I did great on my grocery savings though, and I was able to stretch my grocery shopping budget far. I usually hate grocery shopping on the weekends, but today it was a great escape.

Yesterday I was knocked out with a cold, and my toddler did not leave my side. I was cooking, cleaning and doing everything else with him hanging onto my leg or my hip. Then yesterday my four-year-old came home from pre k with a stomach flu, and I spent all night long changing sheets, giving showers etc This continued all morning, and there was no help from my husband as he had to work (and I did not want him to catch it anyway.)

When he got a break from work, I was ready for a break (I did not get anything to eat or get much sleep). Although I went grocery shopping on an empty stomach, I managed to stick to my grocery list.

Snickerdoodle Cookies from Krusteaz

One of the best deals of the day was cookie mix for $0.10 each. I got this last time it was on sale, and yesterday morning we actually baked cookies just to make the house warm. It is a bit chilly in Florida, and since we are not used to it, we are having a difficult time dealing with the cold. Two days agao we were walking around in shorts and tank tops, and now we are freezing. Our house is not winter proof, and when we turn on the heat, it feels like we are warming up the birds outside too. It is amazing how much heat the oven give off though, and what a tasty way to get warm it is.
