This week I am starting the Holiday Guide Guide 2011 Review & Giveaway series here at Frugality Is Free, where I will showcase some of my favorite gift ideas for the upcoming holiday season including gifts for everyone in the family.

As a part of the Holiday Gift Guide, there will lots of great giveaways including some amazing toy giveaways. Some of the companies that will participate includes Thirty-One Gifts, Learning Curve and Mega Bloks.

If your company has a product you would like to have included in the Holiday Wishlist here at Frugality Is Free, you can send me an email at smartmomj @ gmail . com.

If you wonder why I would start the holiday gift guide series in September, it is simple – starting holiday shopping early makes it easier to have a frugal Christmas.

Why start holiday shopping early?
  • If you start your holiday shopping early, you have more time to wait for the right sale, coupon and price.
  • Enter to win giveaways now so that you can win gifts to give as Christmas gifts.
  • If you start holiday shopping early, your spending is spread out over several months, which means you will be less likely to feel the budget crunch around Christmas time.
  • If you start holiday shopping early, you are more likely to pay cash and less likely to charge purchases on your credit card.

Every year I enter blog giveaways with the intention of winning gifts for Christmas, and it never fails. I have already won several blog giveaways this year where the prizes have been put aside for the holidays.

I start holiday shopping in January, when Target has its Target Toy Clearance sale, and I have already wrapped and sent off all Christmas gifts for my niece and nephews in Europe. When my dad came to visit in May, he got everything with him home and saved me $100 in overseas shipping fees.

When do you start holiday shopping?
