solar christmas lights

I am not afraid to admit it, but I have always been too cheap to have holiday lights up outside. The added cost on the electricity bill was simply something that my frugal mind could not get used to, so instead we settled for lights inside on the Christmas tree only. This month everything changed, when I discovered solar Christmas lights from solarchristmaslights.com.

I am not going to sugarcoat it, I was very skeptical about using the solar Christmas lights. I asked myself with doubt: could it really work? Could this really be the solution? The final answer is yes, solar LED lights work, they work great, and I am very impressed.
This is the first year ever that my family has put up outside Christmas lights, but it will definitely not be the last. Putting up the solar LED lights was easy, simple and quick, and then the waiting for dark began. The batteries had to be charged by sun for 8 hours before first use, so I put the light up in the morning. When the dark came, I was positively surprised, because not only did the lights come on, they worked perfectly and in different modes.

Check out the flashing seven cycle mode:

The Solar Led String Lights lit up all night, and because I had put the lights on the blinking auto mode the lights cycled through seven different flashing sequences: steady on, fast twinkling, slow twinkling, slow flashing in series, slow flashing in reverse series, fast flashing in series and slow flashing in series.

Why I Love The Solar Led String Lights from Solar Christmas Lights.com:
  • My electricity bill does not suffer from our outdoor solar Christmas lights.
  • The solar panel retains enough power for the lights to go through the entire night (6 – 12 hours depending on lightning conditions).
  • The solar Christmas lights turn on automatically once it gets dark enough.
  • The solar led string lights turn off automatically once it gets light.
  • The solar Christmas lights has two modes: auto flashing cycle and steady on.
  • The AA NI-HM battery is rechargeable and should last for 500 recharges (about 16 Christmases).
  • The solar Christmas lights uses LED bulbs.
  • The solar string lights can be used outdoors.
  • There is no more messy extension cords.
  • They are water and weather resistant.
  • There is no need for an AC outlet.
What I Don’t Like About the Solar LED String Lights from Solar Christmas Lights.com:
  • The lights contain lead – (always wash your hands after use.)

Several of my neighbors have come over to ask questions about the solar Christmas lights, when they discovered the small solar panel. The thought of being able to put up Christmas lights without having to worry about the increased electricity bill is appealing to all of my neighbors, and they are eager to get a set of their own.

While the solar Christmas lights cost more than regular string lights, I consider it to be an investment – an environmentally friendly investment. Last night my sons and I were walking home from a school festival, and we could see the lights several streets away – it was a great frugal way to get welcomed home.
I am very excited about the solar Christmas lights from solarchristmaslights.com, and while I am surprised at how well the solar string lights work I should not be. My dad has solar panels on his farm that provides a lot of power, the city recently redid a few of the round-abouts in my neighborhood, and the sprinklers and street lights are now powered by solar lights. So while it should not be surprising to me that the solar Christmas lights work, I am still very impressed.
