Snow Patrol is on tour to celebrate the release of their new CD Fallen Empires, and I am excited to be giving away a signed copy of the Snow Patrol Fallen Empires
Snow Patrol is an alternative rock band based in Glasgow, Scotland, but it was formed by students from Northern Ireland in 1994. Fallen Empires is their seventh album, which is full of great vocals by Gary Lightbody, who have been with the band from the beginning.
Snow Patrol has been on quite a journey both musically and as a band, and while Fallen Empires is different from past albums, the Snow Patrol sound still prevails. Fallen Empires has a softness to it that shines through Lightbody’s vocals, and the depth of the lyrics impress throughout the album.
I was not sure what to expect from this new album from Snow Patrol, but I am quite pleased with Fallen Empires. I personally like the softer sound and the emphasis on strong lyrics. I also love the fact that Snow Patrol uses backing vocals from the LA Inner City Mass Cospel Choir from South Central L.A. on a few of their songs including “The Weight Of Love” and “I’ll Never Let Go”, because this collaboration gives an intricate depth to the songs.
While Snow Patrol has yet to fully catch on here in the U.S., the band has received great success in Europe, and with a facebook base of more than 2 million, I am sure that they will eventually win over the U.S. too.
