My family recently got a chance to try out a variety of gluten free hamburger buns and gluten free hotdog buns from Udi’s Gluten Free Foods, and I am very impressed with the taste, the texture and the quality.
When I was in college, I used to babysit a little girl with celiac disease. She often felt excluded, because even though her mother always tried to pack her gluten free snacks for playdates and parties, she could never eat what all the other kids were eating. Back then gluten free products were very limited plus expensive, and you would have to go to speciality stores in order to find a good variety, or you would have to make everything from scratch with expensive gluten free flour. My personal favorite is Udi’s Gluten Free Whole Grain Hamburger buns, because these buns have a more crunchy and wholesome texture. My oldest- and my youngest sons like Udi’s Gluten Free Classic Hamburger Buns, and my six-year-old is a fan of Udi’s Gluten Free Hot Dog buns.
Udi’s Gluten Free Buns are great when lightly toasted or grilled, and they go well with home-grilled hamburgers or my favorite spicy black bean veggie burgers. We even tried them with egg salad, hummus, and a lot of other great stuff that thrilled our tastebuds.
The buns are not as soft as regular hotdog and hamburger buns, and the texture is closer to that of Kaiser rolls. This means that you can easily create lunch sandwhiches with the gluten free buns as well, and it makes the possibilities endless.
My six-year-old likes things simple, and a perfect gluten free hotdog bun with his favorite hotdog and lots of mustard is all he needs to be satisfied.
Now, don’t worry about dessert, because Udi’s have lots of delicious gluten free treats as well. Udi’s have everything from muffins to cookies, brownies and cinnamon rolls. My family tried out the Udi’s Gluten Free Snickerdoodle cookies, and let me tell you they were delicious. In fact they were so tasty that they did not last five minutes after we opened the box. The gluten free snickerdoodle cookies from Udi’s were soft and crunchy at the same time, and they kind of crumbled on your tongue with the perfect sweetness.
