Gifts Kids Can Make

As a mom of three boys with a husband who really does not fancy gift-giving or birthday celebrations, my birthdays never turn out to be anything special. This year my kids outdid themselves though, because they woke me up with birthday songs and homemade gifts.

Thanks to inspiration from the award-winning book 101 Great Gifts Kids Can Make, my boys had sat down on their own and come up with some creative gift solutions. Stephanie R. Mueller and Ann E. Wheeler have created the perfect gift-giving book for kids, and in my case the perfect gift for mom too. 101 Great Gifts Kids Can Make has received several rewards including the prestigious Seal of Approval Award from the National Parenting Center, and it has been named Book of the Year 2012 by Creative Child Magazine.

With ideas that span from collage bookmarks to garden decorations, terra cotta music makers and more, there are gifts for everyone in the family, and most of the gifts are extremely easy to make. My kids told me to go to my room for a while, and then they began creating. There are gifts for special occasions and holidays, and there are something for kids of all ages.

101 Great Gifts Kids Can Make is divided into 8 separate categories that makes it easier for kids to find the kind of gift they are looking for:

  1. Fun with Photos
  2. A Garden of Gifts
  3. Come Play with Me
  4. Office Originals
  5. Household Helps
  6. Decorations to Display
  7. Say It With A Card
  8. Wrap It Up!

I was afraid that the gifts would require materials that we did not have in the house, but this is not the case. 101 Great Gifts Kids Can Make is full of gift ideas, where the materials are easily obtainable, and there were plenty of projects for my kids to do with materials we had at home.

This is a great book full of creative ideas for any parent, grandparent, and people who work with kids, and there are ideas to keep kids occupied for hours. We will definitely be using this book for the holiday season as well, because there are some great creative ideas for holiday gifts and decorations. There are also great ideas for making cards, and kids can even get creative making their own gift wrapping.
