Alright, the Frugality Is Free family’s grocery budget is now officially being raised to $70 a week. Last year we spent an average of $62 a week, but our fruit bowl is filled and emptied in  no time, and if it costs us an extra $5 a week to keep it filled as we become a family of 6, it will just have to do.

I only shopped at 3 stores this week, but I still went over budget!!! How did you do?

  1. I try to buy when things are on sale and I have coupons for them. I also check out the clearance section in stores first.

  2. Doesn’t a newborn need more than $5 a week ?

    • Anna, I’ll be nursing, and I we’ve already stocked up on diapers, wipes etc., whenever we found rock bottom prices, so I hope to be able to continue doing this.

      • God bless! Nursing is definitely way to go, it’s so much better for the child and you!!

        • Anna, I just hope I won’t have any problems nursing. My youngest son was actually on the news, when he was one day old, because the hospital was doing a news story on the benefits of nursing:) For us it is both a health and a frugal solution.

          • You will be fine! Believe in yourself and the blessings you have been given. I myself did 5 years of nursing with 3 kids 🙂 my youngest son will be 2 soon and I can finally say I am almost done 🙂
