ALDI fruit

I somehow lost my ALDI receipt, but I spent $30 on mostly fruit for our family of 5. There were some great deals on fruit, as Florida strawberries are still $0.99, and our favorite sweet oranges are on sale at $1.99 for 4 lbs. We go through 8 – 10 lbs of oranges every week these days, so I made sure to pick up plenty.

I am so thankful for ALDI’s deals on fruit and vegetables, because it is the only reason that I can purchase as much fruit as I want for everyone in my family without feeling guilty about the cost. Before ALDI came to South Florida, filling up the fruit bowl was expensive and difficult.

I spent $30

I saved around $13 compared to the lowest prices at our other grocery stores in the area.

Do you buy all the fruit that your family wish for every week, or do you feel you have to hold back due to high fruit prices?

  1. I never shop at Aldi’s, but I did last weekend for this very reason. We are eating lots of fruits and vegetables right now and our store where we usually shop has really high prices now (and signs that say it is because of the California freeze). So, I decided to give Aldi’s a try. I spent $25 and got tons of wonderful things. Blackberries, blueberries, Artisan lettuce and so on. I’ll be going back tomorrow! Hope all is well!

  2. We have been living on the Aldi’s fruit this winter! In the summer, I have my own garden so I rarely visit ALDI’s but in the winter, I don’t know what I would do with out them. We go through a good 8-12lbs of oranges a week, right now it’s been two pineapples a week, two large bunches of bananas and two cantelope melons when they’re on sale. That usually tallies up to around $15 for a week and that feeds the six of our. When people ask me if their produce is OK, I usually tell them that it’s better then my local grocery store. The only down side that I have found is that if you get there at the wrong time, sometimes they will be out of some of the most popular fruit.

    • Your family sounds like mine Janelle. I rarely have any complaints about the produce we buy at ALDI, and it is much better than at several of our grocery stores around here. The price simply cannot be compared…

  3. Aldi is the best. They opened here about 2 years ago, and that was when we were finally able to have regular produce around here again instead of sporadically. I’ve been ordering a produce basket from Bountiful Baskets every other week, but I still find myself picking up the produce deals at Aldi. This week I got a bag of oranges (the were $1.59 here!) 2 strawberries, a pineapple, and a cantaloupe. I did find the strawberries aged pretty quickly once i got them home, but I had some aging lemons in the fridge too, so yesterday I used both of those to make a strawberry lemonade. It was sooo good!

    • Amanda, it was the same thing here. Before ALDI I really had to squeeze the budget just to add a few fruit items every week, now the fruit bowl is more than full…and I can finally be the “fruit and veggie mom” that I used to wish I could be.
