produce groceries

This week I made a quick stop at ALDI to pick up some fresh fruit and vegetables, and I ended up picking up many staples that we were running low on. The fruit deals were not fantastic, but the prices were still better than at our local grocery stores.

While $15 may not seem like big savings, shopping at ALDI for the basics leaves me with $20 left in the budget that I can spend on deals at Publix and Target.

 groceries

2 x 4 lbs naval oranges @ $2.59

4.28 lbs of bananas $1.88

2 lbs grapes $3.39

Lettuce $1.19

Mini Sweet Peppers $2.79

2 Green Peppers $0.99

Baby Bella Mushrooms $0.79

Roma tomatoes 20 oz $1.59

Shortbread cookies $1.19

Taco Shells $0.99

Flour tortillas $0.99

Instant Oatmeal $1.49

Powdered sugar $1.39

Garlic powder $0.99

Brown sugar $1.39

Havarti cheese $2.99

2 x Large dozen eggs @ $1.49

Lactose Free Milk $2.79

1 gallon skim milk $2.89

Fresh Chicken Tenders $3.23

Beef Stew Meat $6.23

Hot dog buns $0.89

Whole Wheat Bread $1.29

Total out of pocket $51.21

Total saved $15

(compared to the lowest prices at our regular grocery stores)

I usually spend around $30 at ALDI, but it had been a while, so there were a lot of extras that I needed to stock up on.

How much do you usually spend at ALDI every week?

  1. I love Aldi’s, I do almost all my shopping there! There are very few items I can’t get there! I usually spend $50-$60 a week there.

  2. The wife is a big Aldi shopper. Most of their deals are well below the barrel prices of such places as Harris Teeter and Lowers, that it makes sense to shop there.

  3. I just got back from there, and I had an AHA moment today. Their frozen chubs of ground turkey sell for $1.69 for a 1lb pack. That is the sale price I usually got chase down to buy ground beef in bulk! Plus it’s better for you, so I grabbed a couple to try this morning and see how we like it.

  4. I like all of the patterns, but I think my favorite is overcast.
