I just saw an ad from the new Come Back To JCPenney ad campaign, and what a wonderful change of tone it was. The message of this latest JCPenney campaign…..that JCPenney changes had been made, and that the customers did not like them. “We listened!” the voice over says….and it sure seems that they have.

There has been lots of new JCPenney changes in the last month, and most of the changes were predicted by JCPenney customers a little over a year ago, when JCPenney spent millions on a fancy new boss, who obviously new very little about the JCPenney customers. After 17 months JCPenney fired the new CEO Ron Johnson, and instead the former CEO Myron Ullman was rehired.

Have you noticed the JCP changes? I sure have! How? Coupons! The JCPenney coupons are back! I just returned from JCPenney, and it was wonderful to finally see the customers returning to what had become a bit of a retail ghost town.

Not only have the JCP coupons returned, but great JCPenney clearance has returned as well. I bought 1 or 2 items at JCPenney in the year that they swore of coupons, but since the coupons have returned, I have actually been spending money there.

Today, I headed to JCPenney armed with a $10 off $25 JCPenney coupon that I had received in the mail. I was not looking for something specific, but I always have a list of items that are needed for someone in the family.  I lucked out, when I found a fantastic JCP clearance deal on kids clothes. Just as I was about to give up,, I found four racks full of kids clothing marked down to $2 each, and with four kids in the family, it was easy to find something for everyone. I even found matching shirts in all three of my boys sizes, and these are perfect for when we go out together. Having the boys in matching shirts just makes it much easier to keep track of them, if they are running around on a playground. Another bonus, it looks much nicer on photos, when the boys are wearing the same colors. We have four kids, three boys ages 10, 7 and 3, and a baby girl. I have a rule that if I find something nice for less than $2 a piece, which is a size or two bigger (or for the baby up to size 4), I’ll get it. I have bins for each of the kids, and twice a year I pull out the bins, and it’s just like shopping again.

HOT JCP TIP: Did you know that you can earn JCPenney gift cards at Swagbucks! You sure can, and I’ve ordered mine. 1000 points will get you a $10 JCPenney e gift card, which you can print out and use either online or in store. I’m so excited, and it is easy to get to 1000 points.

If you are new to Swagbucks, you can sign up at Swagbucks here to get your first 100 points. You will get an automatic 30 sign up points, and if you enter the code FRUGALITY where it says sign up code, you will get an extra 70 points.

  1. Awesome shopping trip! I got the same coupon in the mail this week and will be headed there tomorrow or Friday! I hope I find some great clearance deals like you did!

    • Bridget, I sure hope you find some awesome clearance deals as well. In the “old” days you always found better JCP clearance than I did. I have been lucky the last couple of times though, and I will definitely start visiting JCP every time they send me a great coupon.

  2. when you think is the best day to shop at JCP?
