groceries

A quick trip to Publix meant lots of savings…. but also lots of spending. I am definitely breaking the budget these days between poorly planned grocery shopping, picking up school supplies, and just not having enough time in the day. I think I might just have to take a week off from shopping one of these days, in order to make up for all of the over-budget trips I have been doing lately.

For the past couple of weeks, I have also been buying meat at Publix, which automatically adds a lot of money to the grocery bill, because I used to use the $$$ off Publix or competitor coupons to get the amount down. Oh, I sure do miss being able to use Doris coupons at Publix. I cannot wait to get our Zaycon Foods order in, because that will save our family a lot of money on meat in the long run.

My husband also went to Publix yesterday to pick up free Mott’s juice.

With the kids back to school next week, I initially thought I would be able to spend more time on my grocery savings. However, I with different school schedules and lots of walking back and forth, there will be less time to dedicate to saving.

How are you doing with your grocery budget this summer?

  1. Have you considered buying the Enjoy the City books? Each book contains 4) $5/30 coupons for Winn Dixie. My Publix accepts them as a competitor. If you watch for a sale on them, each book is around a 18$ MM. Best thing I ever did to up my savings.
