Zaycon chicken

Frugality Is Free Disclaimer review only

Today our family picked up our first Zaycon Foods order, and what a great experience it was. For years, our family has been looking for an affordable alternative to buying expensive, often low grade meat at the store, but club fees and mandatory monthly orders and such has kept turning us away.  This is why I am thrilled to be able to write a Zaycon Foods review, because we have now found the alternative that we were looking for.

In July we put in our order for 40 lbs of chicken breast from Zaycon Foods, and we picked a nearby church for our pick up location. Yesterday we received a reminder by text and via email from Zaycon Foods, and we were both excited and curious about our first Zaycon Foods order.

We were at our Zaycon foods pick up location about 30 minutes early, and we wondered: Why is the parking lot so quiet? Where are the people? Where is the truck? At 9:41 we called Zaycon Foods headquarters to make sure that we were at the right location, and that nothing had changed in regards to the pick up time. Sure enough the Zaycon Foods employee assured us that the Zaycon Foods truck had been at another location earlier and that it was on it’s way. She told us that if the truck was not there at 10 AM as scheduled, we should give her a call again.

A few minutes later, at 9:46 the Zaycon Foods truck pulled into the empty church parking lot. Our excitement and curiosity was increasing, while the feelings of doubts subsided. We quickly pulled the car over closer to the truck, and we went to get our chicken.

If I had not been chatting up the driver and his wife for a few minutes, we could have been in and out with our chicken in less than 2 minutes. The Zaycon Foods employee, quickly found our order, and we encountered no problems. We were the first ones at our pick up location, but apparently there were only a few other pick ups at our city.

We picked up our 1 box of 40 lbs of skinless, boneless chicken breast, and we quickly drove home to get it in the freezer.

I had been worried about fitting the 40 lbs of chicken into our small under-the-fridge freezer, but I actually managed to get all of it in the bottom drawer with no problems.

I divided the chicken breast into 17 bags of 2 pieces of chicken breast and 4 bags of 3 pieces of chicken breast. Our 40 lbs chicken order contained 46 pieces of chicken breasts at about $1.84/lb.

Zaycon Foods Review:

Now, while the quick pick up at our Zaycon Foods location was impressive, the actual quality of the meat was equally amazing. I hate cutting up and packing away meat, because I always feel as if I discard so much of what we buy at the store due to fat and skin.

The chicken breast from Zaycon Foods was easy to pack away, because there were very little fat if any at all. All I had to do was separate the butterfly chicken breast into two, and pack it away in freezer bags. Much easier, quicker and less messy than usual, and I really appreciated getting so much chicken put away all at once.

The Zaycon Foods chicken is 100% natural chicken with no added hormones, additives or artificial ingredients.

According to our box, the chicken breast came from Wayne Foods in Georgia, and I was pleased to be able to check that this facility had actually received awards for safety. The package label also showed the packaging time, the processing plant and the inspection seal.

Even my husband was impressed with the quality of the Zaycon chicken, and it takes a lot to impress him.

I sure hope that our Zaycon Foods chicken will last until the next time the Zaycon Foods truck comes to South Florida, because after having seen the high level of meat quality, the time efficient process, and the low cost, I no longer feel like buying chicken breast from the store.

Zaycon Foods is able to provide high-quality meat at a low cost, because they cut out the middle man. While it was a bit strange to pick up meat this way, we are very impressed with the entire process and even more so with the quality of the meat. This might have been our first Zaycon Foods order, but it surely will not be our last.

Now that we are a family of six, saving money on groceries is more important than ever, but we do not want to compromise on quality. This is why we are thrilled to have found an alternative to buying expensive meat at the grocery store. We especially love how we can get bulk prices on quality meat without having to pay any membership fees, and the freedom to sign up for a meat order, whenever we need to without any long-term obligation fits our frugal family’s needs perfectly.

Why We Love Zaycon Foods:

  • Signing up for a Zaycon Foods account is easy, and you are never obligated to buy anything.
  • We found a Zaycon Foods delivery location less than 10 minutes away from our home
  • We can pick up our Zaycon Foods order in less than 2 minutes

  11. It sounds too good to be true. I am leery of buying meat out of the back of a truck at some drop off point in a church parking lot. I hope it is not like these trucks that roll through the neighborhood selling beef that isn’t made for retail sale.
