Last night we celebrated the beginning of spring break by surprising the kids with a trip to Disney on Ice at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, and it sure was a special treat for everyone in the family. Our boys were a bit hesitant, when they were met by hundreds of little girls dressed up in their most favorite Disney princess costumes, but they were very excited when they realized that they were actually going to see Disney On Ice.

Our little one-year-old Bellamy Blue was dressed up in her most princess-like dress, and amazingly she enjoyed the show even more than we could ever imagine. At 12 months, we did not think that she would get a whole lot out of the show, but we were so wrong. Our little quite girl started singing, squealing in delight, talking to the characters, and she could not sit still. She kept on moving to the music, rocking away to the rhythms and even on the way home from the show she just kept on talking and singing even though it was way beyond her bedtime.
All three boys were in agreement that the beginning part of the show, where Pinocchio took to the ice, was their favorite part. They were a bit overwhelmed by the many Disney Princess acts, but still they loved the show. Our four-year-old Emory especially enjoyed every moment, and his eyes were completely focused on the performances.
The new addition of Brave to the show was one that the boys also talked about, and they were specifically thrilled by Brave’s three little brothers.
As parents, this was definitely a show that we enjoyed watching with the kids, and it was exciting to see some of the characters from our childhoods come alive. Bellamy Blue recently celebrated her first birthday Disney style with a Mickey Mouse theme, and our boys cannot wait for her to turn three, so that we can all head to Disney World together.
I personally watched Disney on Ice once as a child, and this show surely brought back memories. I was excited to be able to see Disney On Ice with my own kids, and it was a magical experience to see how our little daughter reacted to the show. After the show, we could safely declare that we definitely have a little girl in the family – not just a little baby.
While watching the Disney On Ice show, I realized that I have only watched Beauty and the Beast, and while this is also a show I’ve actually seen on Broadway, I just loved seeing Belle come to live on the ice.
Another one of my personal favorites was the Rapunzel performance, and our little girl was highly fascinated with Ariel and the Little Mermaid performance. Seeing Disney On Ice in South Florida was definitely a great way to kick of Spring Break for our kids, and it was a family experience we would love to repeat. If you want to bring your kids to this magical experience, make sure that they are dressed in their favorite Disney gear, as there are Disney princesses and Disney characters all over. Also bring a sweater, as it can be a little chilly for our South Florida kids.
