Our 14-month-old Bellamy Blue is crazy about the ABC song, in fact she brings out our alphabet poster numerous times a day, so that we can all sing the ABC song with her. So, when I heard about the new Sesame Street Alphabet Songs DVD, I knew it would be a hit at our house. See our daughter does not like watching television, unless someone is singing, and while she herself really only says a few words, she sings all day long, and she has done so, since she was about 6 months old.

Alphabet poster

Sure enough the Sesame Street Alphabet Songs DVD is a big hit with our daughter, and when the old-fashioned ABC song is played, she sings along as usual. Our daughter immediately brought out the alphabet poster, which has been passed down from her three older brothers, and she points to the letters, even though she has yet to learn which letter is which.

Our four-year-old son Emory is starting kindergarten in August, and while he is already reading, he is benefiting from the sounds part of the DVD. He has his sounds down already, and he is getting really good at sounding out words, but it still is great practice for him to hear the sounds over and over again. The Sesame Street Alphabet Songs DVD is especially great with the sounds, because it puts words and pictures together with the sounds.

Our son started mentioning new words that started with J after watching the DVD the first time, and he gained more confidence in letters that has more than one sound such as I (igloo and ice cream) and G (guitar and giraffe). The G song, which focuses on the two sounds of G, was especially helpful in making the two sounds of G stick with my son.

While I originally thought that it would be our 14-month-old daughter, who would get the most out of the Sesame Street Alphabet Songs DVD, it turned out that our four-year-old son benefited from watching this DVD as well.

The Sesame Street Alphabet Songs DVD also features appearances and songs by Norah Jones, the Dixie Chicks and Smokey Robinson. The 1290 minute DVD is full of educational songs, and it is sure to delight any Sesame Street fan.

Sesame Street is the longest-running program in children’s television with it’s 44th season currently underway. The series has received more Emmy awards than any other show in television history (153), as well as a Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award honoring the 40th year.
