Jul 022014

Are you hosting a 4th of July celebration this year? Or perhaps you are having a fun summer party or maybe having a fun day at the beach with your friends. We love hosting summer parties here in the Frugality Is Free family, and we’ve been having lots of beach trips with friends this summer. This is why we always make sure to have plenty of easy party food in stock, and for that we head to ALDI.

best snack foods from ALDI

ALDI’s summer catalog is full of fabulous, easy party food, and we are thrilled to see that some of our favorites from previous years have returned.

ALDI Sun Umbrella

We were also excited to pick up an affordable beach umbrella at ALDI this year. It comes with a twistable bottom, and it has a carrying case, which makes it easier to setup and pack up.

ALDI Watermelon

One of our all-time easy party food options at ALDI is the very affordable, very tasty, perfect solution for any party whether at home, in the park or at the beach – watermelon. We usually buy the watermelon at least five days in advance of any party that we are having, as this means it will be perfectly sweet on party day. We can cut it up the night before, leave it in the fridge until party time, and it is also easy to transport to the beach.

ALDI’s brownies are always a hit both for special treats and as party food, and this summer we gave ALDI’s Brownie S’mores a try. They turned out to be a big hit around here, and they were perfect for a little beach party with good friends. You can find lots of great summer recipes at the ALDI website.

ALDI has lots of affordable chips, and one of the favorites at our outings and parties are Clancy’s Fiery Hot Cheese Curls.

ALDI Hot Cheetos

We also make sure to stock up on fig newtons and ALDI cookies, as these are great-tasting affordable snack options to bring along in the beach bag, the pool bag or simply for a play party in the back yard.

  167. We DID use Aldi’s for beans, chips, buns, tea, soda, and fruit on the Fourth!

  168. We visit Aldi at least twice a week, sometimes more. It is our go-to for PRODUCE, which we eat a lot of, bread, cheese, salad fixings, drinks, and trail mix (my favorite.) 172. I shop at ALDI almost every week, my store is only about a half mile from me.

  173. I love the everyday low prices on their milk! I also like their almond milk since my daughter can’t have soy or regular dairy milk. It’s a great place to start saving if you don’t have time to coupon, or need to grab a few items quickly. The cashiers I’ve met have always been very quick to check me out, which is a great bonus! Their special buys are pretty awesome too! We love the chocolate almond milk when it comes out. (We secretly wish that they would make it a permanent product!) We also go there for produce, but here it isn’t always as fresh as we’d like it to be, so we are a little picky about it. We also like the fact that they sometimes mark down their meat with $2 off or 50% off coupons! When we find these gems, we stock up! (But we don’t clear the shelf) While the bread can be a good deal, we pass on it now due to the azodicarbonamide content. We find azodicarbonamide free bread for $1 or less at our local Sara Lee/Bimbo thrift bakery and freeze it.

    • Forgot to mention that our closest Aldi is probably only about 7 miles from our house. We shop there about every week to 3 weeks, depending on sales at other stores.
