After a morning library trip, we made a quick stop at Publix to get our weekly grocery shopping done. It is amazing how quickly cereal and milk disappear at our house, and now our little one is eating cereal for breakfast as well, so I have to make sure to keep the supply coming.

Our kids get free breakfast and lunch at school, which means that when they are out of school it can be felt big time on the grocery budget. Today we managed to get free lunch at the library, and with four little mouths to eat, it is a big money saver. The kids got Pizza Hut pizza, organic juice boxes and pears, what a treat.

There was even a showing of Frozen, while the kids were eating, and lunch and a movie at the library sure was a nice bonus. We stop by the library twice a week to get the kids their summer reading awards (from the library summer reading program) and to load up on new books, as our oldest son reads a book (or two) a day. Now that I know how easy it is to participate in the free lunch program, we will definitely make sure to schedule our library visits around it.

Do your schools and libraries serve free breakfast and lunch for the kids throughout the summer?

Publix cereal deals

Grocery shopping was done as a quick trip after the library, and I sure is thankful that I had lots of coupons, because buying cereal can get very expensive these days. We use the Krave cereal as an in between snack, and I was thrilled to see that it had a free book offer with it. We also picked up a free movie with the FREE Redbox code FRIENDS.

  1. I live in North Alabama an Huntsville City and Athens City Schools serves breakfast , lunch and dinner during the summer 5 days a week. Its free to all kids up to the age of 18 and I think the adults have to pay $2.00 and Huntsville city supplies transportation and starting this school year Huntsville City announce that all kids will receive free breakfast and lunch.
