Our oldest son just turned twelve, and he is experiencing quite a growth spurt. He has literally gone from a size 6 in boys shoes to a size 11 in men’s shoes within a year, and he is outgrowing his size 11 shoes too. When I checked his shoes last week, I realized that I needed to be on the lookout for a new pair of shoes, because there is no way that I am going to pay and arm and a leg for a pair of shoes he might outgrow in a couple of months. And yes….the likelihood that he will continue on to a size 13 within the next six months or so seems to be quite reasonable.

We discovered that Kohl’s has some really nice FILA sneakers on sale quite frequently in the low $30s, and if I use a $10 off $25 Kohl’s coupon, it turns out to be a good deal. This year he’s already gone through a black pair, he is currently wearing (and outgrowing) a blue pair, and this weekend he chose a gray pair. Our son uses the shoes for everything including PE at school, so the sneakers really need to be of a good quality, and these FILA shoes seem to do the job.

By combining a sale price with a $10 off $25 Kohl’s coupon and a 15 percent off Kohl’s coupon, we found a reasonable deal on his next pair of shoes. I’m hoping that he can keep using the size 11 for another month or so, but I strongly suspect that he will enter 2015 in a size 12.
