Dec 022014

Now that our boys are getting bigger, it is really beginning to show in the amount of food they eat, and boy did they empty the fridge over the Thanksgiving holiday. Yesterday we began running out of a bunch of the basics, and we even had to dig into our hurricane stock of shelf almond milk, as we were out of lactose free milk.

So, this morning after we dropped off our oldest son at school, we made a trip to ALDI to fill up the fridge again. I was a bit afraid that ALDI would be out of most of the things we needed after the holiday weekend, but I am thrilled to say that our South Florida ALDI store was pretty  well stocked.

One of the things that we were out of was cereal, so I grabbed all the cereal on clearance I could find. I was also thrilled to find ALDI meat coupons on many of the meat packages, and if we had had a bigger freezer, I would surely have grabbed more.

Update…. so I started writing this post yesterday, after I had gone to ALDI in the morning loaded on asthma medication. Thankfully I got the shopping done, dinner in the oven for the night and meat seasoned for Tuesday, because right around dinner time I realized that I could not manage my asthma at home with the medications I had. I had been coughing for two days straight with no sleep. As soon as my husband got home from work, he drove me to the ER, where I spent all night getting poked, prodded x rayed etc., and pumped up with lots of different medicines.

All I could think about was that thankfully I had gotten dinner cooked, and that there were plenty of fruits, milk and cereal for the kids for breakfast…isn’t that just a typical mom thing?

Anyway, with everything they did the final steroid treatment finally stopped the asthma and the coughing, and I was sent home after 10 p.m., finally breathing properly and I even got a good nights sleep. The medication makes me a bit dizzy, so please excuse any spelling mistakes for the next couple of days. I am not a fan of medications ,but I think this first ER visit in 8 years (for me not the kids) have made me realize that I have gotten older, and that I need to take all of the medications in order to control the asthma. I am just thankful for a clear X ray, and I know that it could have been so much worse, asthma I can handle.
