school lockdown

Here in the Frugality Is Free family we are eager to get away from the craziness of our South Florida neighborhood, and as we are waiting for yet another school lockdown to be lifted, we count the minutes until we can hug all of kids a little tighter.  For our kids having the sheriff’s office search our neighborhood and news helicopters and news vans stationed close to crime scenes have become normal life, which means its time for a change.

Are your kids safe at their schools?

  1. How awful! It’s happened here in Kentucky but not lately.

  2. It’s really scary when these things happen in your neighborhood!

Hope your year is off to a great start!

  3. Jeez! that is scary 🙁

    Every parent’s nightmare!

    Happy to link up.

  4. I can’t imagine! How awful to have to live through that. I told my youngest daughter, Amanda, that living in South Africa is probably the only country where we pray that the Lord will keep the water meter safe, along with keeping us and the pets safe. Water meters have been stolen off of properties in our town and sold for scrap metal. The water shoots like a fountain and the homeowner has to pay for all the lost water and the new water meter and installation. Thankfully it hasn’t happened to us. 😉

  5. I can’t imagine how worrying it must be for parents when this sort of thing happens. My kids are in their late 20’s & early 30’s now & this sort of thing just didn’t happen when they were at school.

  6. oh dear, I hope everybody was safe and unharmed.

    • Klara, everyone safe. A kid had brought a weapon to school but thankfully someone had the sense to report it, and the police did not stop searching until it was found.

I’m so thankful that no one was hurt, this could have such a different outcome.

  7. I cant imagine how scary this must have been, there is so much crime and people that get upset and do crazy things these days, its only going to get worse!
    Be safe!!

  8. That’s scary! Luckily I haven’t yet had to go through this as a mom. But I remember when I was in school, we had a few lockdowns. At the time, it wasn’t scary, but now I’m realizing how hard it must have been for my mom!

  9. Oh my that’s not good! It certainly makes the case for home schooling but even that comes with it’s pitfalls.

    Stay safe!

  10. How scary! Hope everything was ok. In our small town we haven’t had any lockdowns and hopefully we won’t have any. The world is so scary nowadays. Thanks for linking up at Wonderful Wednesday Linky Party.
